Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival

Who We Are

The Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival was founded by Ronald Quigley a Pittsburgh native who now lives and works as an  Actor / Director in Los Angeles.  Ronald, re-located from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles in April 2002.  He is the CEO of Last Act Entertainment a production company with several credits to it’s name.   The  feature film “The Last Act” is currently in world wide distribution and is  playing on VOD in Russia, Africa, and the Middle East.  Ronald acts as the Festival Director while our panel of judges are comprised of industry professionals from different fields within the film making community of Hollywood.

The PIFF was created in 2010 and screened 48 films from around the world at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont PA,  a suburb of Pittsburgh.  Although the Hollywood worked well for the first year, Ronald felt a need for a venue that was more conducive to a film festival atmosphere. In 2013 the Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival found it’s permanent home at The Father Ryan Arts Center in McKees Rocks only minute from downtown the facility is perfectly  designed for a film festival.

The PIFF Screened 60 films from around the world in 2013 with 9 countries represented and several films with local connections. The Best Feature Film winner  “Grounded” chronicles the pot smuggling  efforts in the 1970’s of  Jim and Terry Daughety.  Two Pittsburgh brothers  from the South Hills.  The Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival  supports local filmmakers, but never favors them. They are judged on the same high standard as all the films from around the globe and must meet the same standard of excellence to be selected for screening.

In 2014 we initiated the “Made In Pennsylvania” section of our festival.  We screened 14 films form Pittsburgh and the sounding areas it was such a success that  we made it a permanent part of the festival.
